Cynthia Tellez, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Cynthia Tellez joined the Animal House team in July of 2023. During her undergraduate studies at Carroll University, she volunteered at C.A.R.E. (Center for Animal Rehabilitation and Education) in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She assisted with the daily husbandry and enrichment of various species of birds. This is where her love of non-traditional species was born. Before vet school, she interned as an animal care specialist at NATUWA in Costa Rica, and the Brookfield Zoo. These experiences sparked her interest in animal enrichment and the human animal bond.
She then went on to obtain her DVM from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time there, she was the manager of the Wildlife Medical Clinic- a student run free clinic that provides medical care for injured wildlife. She completed externships at the Brookfield Zoo, St. Louis Zoo, World Bird Sanctuary, and the Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic.
In her free time, Dr. Cynthia loves to go hiking and spend time at home with her partner and 2 cats, Mochi and Doja Cat, and her Eastern Box Turtle, Marley. She loves crafting, reading, and gardening.
