Stephanie Heniff, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Stephanie Heniff joined Animal House of Chicago in August of 2024.  Her passion for veterinary medicine began while working with research animals.  She started her career working with wildlife at the Wildlife Medical Clinic at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and volunteering at the Champaign County Humane Society. She completed her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at the university of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  

She completed a Zoological Compainion Animal and Wildlife Internship at Cornell University Hospital for Animals and a small animal rotating internship at Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties.  She has also completed externships at the San Diego Zoo, Tufts Wildlife Clinic, Tufts Exotic Animal Service, Oregon Zoo, Oklaoma City Zoo, Banfield, Yorkville Animal Hospital, and the Center for Animal Resourses and Education (CARE) at Cornell. She Graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her professional interests are small animal and exotic emergency medicine, critical care, urgent care, surgery, research laboratory animal medicine, and zoological companion animal medicine.  She is RECOVER certified in basic and advanced CPR. 

Stephanie is committed to non-profit work and directed the UIUC chapter of Alternative Seasonal Breaks. She routinely performs exotic animal surgeries for Lost Woods Animal Shelter.  She has volunteered for Holistic Riding Equestrian Therapy.

She has a ball python named Agave and recently adopted two rabbits named Conway and Dolly, who were found roaming the streets of Chicago.
